Make a Difference With Us

Everyone, who has ever enjoyed the beauty and majesty of these animals, up close, in a story, a movie or song, has their own particualr part to play. No part is too great or too small, no one is too old or too young to do something.

When young horses grow old, where do they go, what happens to them?

Too often horses that have outlived their productive years are sold to reclamation plants or are put down way before their time. As you may now know, Aspen's Ranch is a place for such horses to go and not to have their lives ended prematurely. Aspen's Ranch is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that is dedicated to providing a "Safe Harbor" for such horses. They come here from varying circumstances to live happily ever after.

Aspen's Horse Ranch is a unique organization with a unique charter. While we work closely with horse rescue organizations, our intent is not to place, sell or find homes for "rescued" horses. Our purpose is to take in and care for horses that nobody wants and to do it for the rest of their lives. The horses that come to Aspen's Ranch are usually in their mid twenties with many more quality of life years left. Whether they were cutting horses, trail horses, brood mares or horses that need special care and attention but can no longer receive it from their current owners; they are all welcome at Aspen's Ranch.

We completely understand the requirements of horse ownership and the burdens that are associated with owning horses, particularly in these economic hard times where almost all of the fees for horse maintenance have doubled. However, we believe no healthy horse's life should be ended just because they are no longer productive or can not be appropriately cared for due to unforeseen personal or financial hardships. We offer an option out for those who feel burdened by horse ownership and are considering euthanizing their horse due to any of the reasons mentioned above.

For a number of years we operated independently and tried to maintain Aspen's Ranch within our own budget. As the number of horses had grown, we found ourselves needing outside support if we wanted to continue to grow our "Retirement' community. Therefore, we created Aspen's Horse Ranch Preserve as a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization in January 2008. All monies donated to Aspen's Ranch go directly to the care and feeding of the horses. We have yet to turn away a horse for retirement. Through your generous contributions we will be able to continue to take in horses whose lives would otherwise be cut short.

Happy Trails can come true, they can happen because of you. Please give what you can when you can so that we may continue to carry on this worthy cause. God Bless all Horseman, those that wish they were and all Horses.
