This is Aspen our Lead Mare. She is a pure bred Appaloosa and is
25 years Old. She was our first "Rescued" horse and she has
changed our lives forever. We named the Ranch in her honor. She
was once a wonderful "Training" horse but had outlived her
productive years and was going to be put down. She stole our
hearts and the rest is history. She is quite lame now and starting
to go blind but her heart and spirit are still strong. She foaled
Pony Boy 3 years ago and the two are inseparable as mother and
son. |

Say Hello to Pony Boy. He is not "officially" a "retiree" but a
handful just the same. He is 3 years old and is half Appaloosa and
half Arab. We went through "imprinting" with him at birth and he
has been that handful ever since. He mostly annoys the retirees
but helps to keep them young. He knows his place in the order of
the herd but thinks he is a person or that people are horses. He
fears nothing but water sprayed at him. We spray him
regularly:)

Smokey Blue Kaspar is our pure bred Hungarian Arab. He is 22 years
old and our lead gelding. He suffers from sun exposed skin
pigmentation issues and requires a bit of make-up on a regular
basis. He came to us from an owner who no longer had the time to
provide the personal care he needed. He is a strong, kind and
spirited horse. Smokey, Aspen and Pony are a herd within the
herd |

Here is pretty Swing "A ling". Or "Swinging on a Star". She is 23
years old and a former brood mare that was also a "Rescue". She is
half Saddlebred and Half Arab. She came to us from a close friend
who knew we would take good care of her. She is very loving and
gentle. She has a tendency to get startled over the slightest of
abnormalities and serves as the neurotic lookout for the
herd. |

This is Woody. A 26 year old Quarter Horse who was a former
cutting horse and smooth "Trail Ride". He came to Aspen's Ranch
after he was "diagnosed" (bamboozled the local dude ranch more
likely) to no longer being able to do trail rides. Well, Woody
found the fountain of youth at Aspen's Ranch (along with a good
chiropractor) and has been a handful for the ladies ever since. He
is a gentle, kind and loving horse. Woody, Swing and Zenia are
another herd within the herd.
|

This is Zenia, Zee or "ZZTop". She is a pure bred Arab who came
to use as another "Rescue" this time from the Rodeo City Equine
Rescue organization as they were having difficulty finding her a
home. She is 24 years old and was a former brood mare. She has a
club foot and requires some particular feerrier and chiropractic
attention from time to time. She is a calm and very sweet
horse.
|

This is Pretty "Cissy". She is a pure bred Quarter Horse who was
formerly a brood mare who was also a "Rescue" that could not be
placed by RCER. Cissy is 24 years old. It took a while for the
herd to accept her but in time (with a little help from Aspen) she
fit right in and is now very much a twosome with El Nijmett within
the herd. |

Here we have lovely "Leah". She is a Morgan / Walker "something"
mix that came to us from a family that could no longer care for
her. She is approximately 22 years old. She is the loner of the
herd. She would rather her equine friends leave her alone and
prefers the company of real people. She is as kind and gentle as
can be, always movng her lips as if in conversation with you about
the daily gossip of the herd. |

Our latest addition to the herd, is "El Nijmett", the elusive pure
bred Egyptian Arab. Nijmett is 28 years old and the elder
statesman of the herd. He came to us from a long time owner that
was not able to continue to care for him and knew we could. He
"Thinks" he is in charge, until Woody or Smokey chase him off or
Aspen gives him a polite but sound bite in the rear. He has
however, found "love" late in life with Cissy and is quite content
at Aspen's Ranch. |
